Company

A specialty contractor built for complex work

Established in 2004, Select Demo Services performs demolition, environmental remediation, and final cleaning for many of the country's most prominent institutions, corporations, educational facilities, and government agencies.

Our story

Twenty years of self-performed work

Select Demo is the largest specialty contractor in the Northeast, averaging $150 million per year in sales. We self-perform multi-faceted projects across commercial, industrial, institutional, and heavy-civil construction, and we are listed by ENR as the sixth-largest demolition contractor in the United States.

Our team is diverse and tenured. It has built the firm on quality workmanship and attention to detail while meeting the schedule and safety demands of the region's most exacting clients.

Workforce and equipment

Resources

Workforce

Select employs up to 400 laborers and operators per day across its projects. That capacity comes in part from long-standing partnerships with the Laborers' International Union of North America and the International Union of Operating Engineers, which supply an experienced, local, and diverse workforce.

Fleet

Select owns and maintains a modern fleet of excavators from eight to 150 tons, equipped with shears, pulverizers, multi-processors, buckets, grapples, and hydraulic hammers. An in-house mechanics team and a mobile service unit keep equipment running, which protects project schedules and controls cost.

Sustainability

Recovery built into the sequence

Select's fleet of shears, pulverizers, and multi-processors provides high-capacity processing of construction and demolition debris for recycling and reclamation. On the UMass Boston campus, roughly 100 tons of brick, concrete, and CMU were crushed to 3-inch minus and left on site as backfill. Select also has experience participating in LEED projects.
